The Romantic Englishwoman by Thomas Wiseman (HC, 1972)
Content Description: A wife breaks free from the oppressive dominance of her brilliant husband to the excitement of casinos and the erotic closeness of strangers. When she returns to her husband, she is rescued by the arrival of a poet, a social parasite of unnerving charm. With this superbly etched portrait of a sensual, restless woman, Wiseman reflects the psychological condition of women in the twentieth century and their attempts to find new sexual mores
