Content Description:   This book describes the mental development of children that takes place as they work in art.  Rhoda Kellogg, a nursery school teacher since 1928, explains how children develop as a result of seeing esthetic Gestalts in their own scribbling.  Her investigation of the what of children's art focuses on the characteristics of line formations, particularly in scribblings and drawings.  Book has Introduction, eighteen chapters, Appendix A and Appendix B, Bibliography and Index.  Chapter titles include Seeing is Believing, The Basic Scribbles, The placement Patterns, The emergent Diagram Shapes and many more.

Condition Description:  Book is in good condition.  A former library book with the usual markings.  FML is inked on top, side, and bottom of closed pages.  No creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting, and no writing in margins.  Title page has orange check mark in top right hand corner.   Erased pencil circles around a few other chapter titles.  Spot on pg. 154.  Plastic on front cover has a 1" x 1/4" tear in it. Library card pocket on back end page.
